Hello again, well after less than a year back home in the UK I’m off again.
Since losing my beloved Millie I started donating money to different animal shelters around the world. One such shelter in Udaipur India struck a cord with me and I started to investigate about volunteering with them. I got in touch with the founders Erika and Jim, they advised me the best time of year to visit which was after the monsoon season in September.
A friend of mine that I met at Soi Dogs in Phuket wanted to come with me and that was great as I didn’t really fancy going to India on my own. So Gwen and myself planed our flights and accommodation over a weekend while Gwen visited me in Chichester. We also had to get a visa for India which proved a really difficult process online and an expensive one.
Flights booked for October 10th and now time for fund raising, I set up a JustGiving page which we raised £1000 and also got donations of £350. I arranged with some companies to give me discount as it was for charity, so I started working my way through the list of stuff Erika had provided me with.
I purchased lots of first aid items plus syringes, dental descaler, ENT kit, a centrifuge for blood and £100 in cash which we would buy blankets when we get there.
